Why I need to quit riding other people’s horses

Last night we had drill practice. Even though I’m no longer performing with the team I told them I would fill in for them when they needed an extra person. MIL is in Utah visiting my SIL so I filled in for her.

DH has been on Sis once since last weeks fall but he just walked around the pasture with her so basically she’s been on vacation for a week.

When I got on we flexed side to side (this is finally starting to feel like pulling on a bungee cord vs. pulling on a 2 x 4). Then we worked on softening the rib cage. What I wouldn’t have given for a set of spurs!

I finally got her moving off of my legs and man what I wouldn’t give to have a month to work with her. After a few rollbacks (which she greatly needs more improvement on) and softening work she was starting to do sliding stops and had a very nice, collected lope (something we’ve had issues with in the past). She also had a trot to die for!

I don’t want to send her home! I want more time to ride her to see what she’s actually capable of! Unfortunately she’s going home Saturday after her performance. It’s ok – I really need to start working Lu a little bit.

Huh? Did DH take a fall? When did that happen?

Yeah, I think you need to stick with 3L and Cat ;>)
