Only One Practice Left

Last night we had drill practice in a new arena. It’s the arena we’ll be performing in on Friday night. All I can say is – we are bad. sad smiley Our lines were horrible, we messed up the pattern and we simply just aren’t ready. We’ve missed several practices due to the weather and then we put in a new member who (bless her heart) is doing the best she can. We have practice Thursday night and then we have a performance in the rodeo on Friday.

DH & Chase trailered Max and Abby out yesterday afternoon and rode so I was a bit surprised that Max still had as much energy as he did last night. I was working pretty hard to hold him back with my partner (who is on a pretty slow horse). Friday night should be even better since the adrenaline usually takes over and speeds them up. He wasn’t too spooky though about the new surroundings. This arena tends to spook a lot of horses due to the signs, cutes, etc. so I was pretty happy with the way he acted in the arena.

A bit of good news – the member whose daughter decided not to do drill is now watching the boys for me at practice so I don’t have to worry about my mom/sister watching them all of the time. With the new trailer she can watch then up front and they have plenty of room to play. It was pretty nice last night and I think they boys enjoyed going. She also offered me her 17 yr. old paint gelding. I don’t know all of the details on him but I know she used him for drill last year. She said her dreams of going for family trail rides weren’t going to happen. When things slow down a bit I’d like to go look at him. Unfortunately until next Monday we are gone between drill, shows, etc. so I know it’s not going to happen this week.

Until next time………….Ende

You'll be fine Friday night. I'm sure that adrenaline will keep you sharp for your performance. Good to hear you're enjoying your trailer.
