Practice, practice, practice

Last night I took Chase & Abby over to practice. While Chase rode around in the practice pen I cooked supper in the parking lot. Abby was full of P & V and was moving out quickly for Chase. He was having issues with his reins for some reason and wasn’t holding them centered so she’d go one direction and he’d get upset.

I tied Abby up so Chase could eat and I went into the pen on Max. We did a refresher on last night with our rollbacks and “whoa”. We need to work on it more. While I was doing that Abby decided to kick the crap out of my trailer so I went and grabbed her and ponied her off of Max. She actually keeps up very well.

We ran the routine with the second team of 8 (the team that is afraid to run) and of course it didn’t go so well. This is the team that is supposed to run in less than two weeks.

Our captain left without saying anything before we were done with the second run so we decided to set up the barrels and play with those instead. The first “run” I did with Max I ran him to the barrel and asked him to stop and then walked him around it all and repeated for all of the barrels.

The next two runs we ran around each barrel twice and then moved on. Finally I let him actually run it and his turns were much better. Chase ran it a few times on Abby and she was getting a little goofy but he did fine.

It started to rain about the time we hit the trailer so we packed up and headed back home.

A big woo hoo for me! I was able to back the trailer from the road into it’s parking spot! It took me a couple of attempts but I finally got it!

She kicked your new trailer and you didn't sell her right there on the spot?

LOL John. No I didn't sell her. It's going to happen. It was just a matter of time.

Whatever said...

I'm surprised you didn't sit on her like you did with Tuff when she pissed you off!! ;oP
