The vet told me to wait 7-10 days prior to removing Cat’s stitches so Wednesday we removed them (10 days). I hot packed her face prior to removing the stitches because there was a little lump (assumed puss) that I was hoping would go down with some heat.
Last night on my way home from work I get a call telling me that Cat has torn her face back open. I went out to look and the “lump” wasn’t puss but tissue. I called the vet and he said he can’t re-stitch it (I didn’t figure he could) and that it was granular tissue so I needed to get it dried out by using wound dust or wound powder.
Of course what do I catch her doing right after I put the wound dust on her? Itching her face. I’m pretty sure that’s how she tore it back open in the first place. I’m hoping that by her tearing her face back open that this is a blessing in disguise and that we can get the tissue cleared up and out so she doesn’t have a huge, obnoxious lump on her face for the rest of her life.

How does it look?
When my first horse Tex cut his leg the vet gave me a cream that inhibited the granular tissue so it could heal.
