Friday night MIL, the boys and I all loaded up and headed to Elk Rock State Park for a camping weekend. We already had out site picked out (the last one they had) so we knew exactly where we were going.
We got to the camp site around 7:30, unloaded the horses and then organized the trailer. We figured we’d use the night to settle in and let the horses settle in.
We were pretty warm after unloading everything so we cracked the windows in the trailer. When it started to cool down we closed them. That was a HUGE mistake!
The moisture had started to condensate on the roof of the trailer and got the blankets damp. It made for a very cold night. I was cold enough that at 5:45 I decided to get up for the morning (remember I’m NOT a morning person).
DH got there around 8:00 and we cooked bacon, eggs and toast for breakfast. Then Chase, DH and I saddled up to hit the trails. We decided to hit the 2 mile loop to begin with since it was Abby and Chase’s first trip out.
They seemed to do just fine but Abby would trot up to Max anytime she’d get just a little bit behind. Chase also couldn’t get her to stand still when a group would pass but it didn’t seem like a big deal.
Since they seemed to be doing well we went and rode the 6 mile loop and then headed back to camp. We ate some lunch and then we were surprised with some visitors. DH’s grandparents were camping down the road about a ½ hr. and decided to come visit. It was a very nice surprise and we had a great visit.
After they left MIL, DH and Chase went out for a ride while Ty and I took a nap in the trailer. We had MIL’s generator so we turned it on so we could run the A/C. It was noisy but we were tired and comfy so we didn’t care.
When the gang got back we had some supper and Chase had his smoors. MIL decided to take the boys back to her place for a bath and she wanted to sleep in the comfort of her own home. LOL
Saturday night we were able to run the generator until about 9:30 when the park officer told us it was too loud. That was enough to take most of the moisture out of the trailer so sleeping wasn’t nearly as bad.
